My brother worked at a manufacturing company that made lint rollers out of the same material . To clean the lint roller to reuse it again, you held it under the faucet running cold water rinsing the lint and hair away. You could probably do the same then lay it flat and air dry.
Warped Vinyl Board

When I get my silicone board, I'm going to experiment with cleaning it. I will take a chance on messing it up and report back here with the results. I'll take one for the team. LOL

Never had mouse-pad board. Does the top piece at the end/borders peel off from the padding. All three cloth backed vinyl I have tend to have threads wearing off from the border.
I'm very happy with my mousepad board. I can store it rolled up and it comes out flat just fine.
There are a couple of down sides. I'm told that they don't take water well, and might stain if you spill on them,so if you play in coffehouses or venues where spills are likely, you might think twice. Also, they are significantly thicker, so you have to roll them tightly to get them into the standard carry all bag. It's not a huge deal, but I have had times where I had to re-roll it because it wouldn't fit the first time.

How you clean them? Handsoaps? Dishwashing cleaning liquids? You cannot wipe them because of lint. Even to let them dry out the small piece of dust lands on them.
Thank you also Meadmaker.

First I'm going to do some research on this silicone material. Then I'm going to try various cleaning methods. And yes, I want to see how bad the lint accumulation is.
I should get my board in about a week and then I'll give my results.
At worst I will be out 15 bucks. LOL

Silicone Chess Board
. ... The board can be wiped clean with a damp cloth and spilled liquids will not penetrate it

I apologize for resurrecting this thread, but I just wanted to make a post to say that the ironing seemed to have worked. I just hope that it won't somehow warp back after a few days.
Thanks everyone that contributed to this thread.

I finally got my silicone boards and I'm going to be testing them over the next few days. Report coming soon.

I'll be watching for it.

Will you be doing anything like what that guy on Joseph's Youtube video was doing to that poor prototype board? I was cringing when he started pulling that thing with all his might.

No, but I'm testing various cleaning agents and seeing how resistant it is to different stains. So far I am very satisfied with it.

The video says Chess pieces get sticky feeling on the board. That mean if Chess piece has a felt cloth on the bottom the board will not only have lint but will have a sound like velcro? When you lift or take piece off the board?

Store your vinyl board, wrapped tightly aroud a 20" long piece of ½" PVC pipe, with the checkerd (printed) side out. This is a prevetitve measure to avoid creasing ad warping. IDK if it will fully restore your board but it can't hurt and if you do need to replace it then store your new one using the PVC pipe as a core, as desribed above, to prevent it from warping.

Actually, this is something very similar to what I did, which was to roll it inside a 1 1/2 inch pvc pipe. Works very well at keeping the board in shape, though its awkward to carry around.

No, pieces don't stick to the board. You can lift and move them easily. They just don't slide.
More about this in my coming report.
I haven't figured that part out yet. I'm afraid I will mess the ink up if I use a damp cloth. I just do the best I can with a dry cloth now. Would love tips, too.
