What the heck happened to chess on Android?

I got a new phone and decided to change my Google account and when I went to find my favorite apps in the Play Store they weren't there anymore: Analyze This Pro, Droidfish, Chessbase Online (at least that last one explained it was there but wasn't available to me because it is incompatible with the latest version of Android).

Are chess developers fleeing the Play Store, or something?

I believe it's due to some limitations Google created when it comes to engines. The apps can no longer load external binary engines as I understand it, so only apps that can include the engine code directly will work.

You do not need Google to dictate what is put on your phone.

I love Droidfish.

And can still be used on Android. Link Below....

Thanks. I'll probably have to go the F-Droid route

Off topic, but I bought a Play Store card, so that I didn't have to give Google my credit card, and when I entered the redemption code it asked me for my ZIP code. I put in a fake, figuring Google didn't need to know that, and then Play Store told me they were blocking redemption until I sent them a photo of the card and of the receipt where I purchased it and even then it could be weeks to get the credit.

So, I wasted money there.

Google is really ticking me off lately.

I guess they are capitalists...

My old iChess no longer works on my Pixel.
