@ rsava I think its very bad form to name call and cast aspersions without knowing someone. As you can see via my diamond membership I pay for what I use. I was responding to a request.
While my chess book collection is modest and my chess sets and boards collection is nascent that is more a reflection of limited space than ability or willingness to purchase. I pay for what I use.
I'm glad that you have a travel set soap box thats easily accessible though.
And the site you posted is a pirating site. You obviously know that.

My argument is valid, just to a much greater extent. Personally, I do not pirate things. However, we all are not rich old white men who have enough money for lavish sets and short, usually useless chess books that cost $40 a pop.
Buying a gun is not against any rules.

I am a grow man who has worked for everything in life. I grew up in a one bedroom apartment in Kensington, Philadelphia. I put myself through college and worked hard to get a job. I am not a privileged old man who spends money on many lavish chess sets, all of which will not be used (if you can use more than one at a time you're talented). With the very little I have, I donated to the people in Houston and Puerto Rico who lost everything. I bet you didn't help and instead bought some more books you won't read and another set you won't use. Do not question my moral values.

You can get free public domain books at archive.org. While these are old books whose copyrights have expired many of them still have great value such as the books by Laser and Capablanca. Also good puzzle books.
I never condoned stealing of any kind, and do not care if an old man with some chess books believes a word I say. I am supporting the person who gave the original user the website. No one has to use anything. If I gave you the website of a terrorist organization you do not have to visit it. No one has to use the afore mentioned website.
You act very immature and ungrateful. You have no idea about what I have been through in my life. I never said I donated a lot. I donated what I could afford. I was not bragging, but simply pointing out the misuse of your money. It is, however, your choice to spend how you wish. You made the money (unless you stole it). Also, people who have a problem and really care that much about what others do are just upset at what they are themselves.

The knee-jerk reaction of those who assume all free chess books are illegal is surprising as there are a lot of legitimately legal free chessbooks. Even though most of them are older books, most of them are still good. Here are websites with legally free (at least as claimed) books:
