If you were buying a chess board for tournament play or just say constant play doesn't have to be tournament only, which chess board would you choose?  So that colours are right, easy to see and no complaints from anyone who's playing on it.

Which wood would you go for in particular  and more specifically please don't just name a wood(because some wood they have like 3 or 4 different options), but can you please show what EXACTLY chess board would you choose and why this one over any other, thx.

Also which chess pieces would you choose size wise 3.75 or 4.0 inch and why ?  Also which one?

For me, I like the combo of 3.75” ebony/boxwood or padauk/boxwood pieces with a walnut/maple or walnut/birch board. Here is my CB ebony/boxwood 1849 set on a walnt/maple board from JK Creative. I think this combo is the best contrast-wise. There is absolutely no confusing pieces from squares.

Here is my HoS 3.75” Collectors in padauk/boxwood on a vintage Drueke 64 walnut/birch board. This one is more soothing to me because of the warm colors on the board. However, the aged birch squares and the boxwood pieces somewhat blend together a bit. You can see how the aged Drueke compares with the new JK board to the right.

It's all nice and all, but I asked specific question on a choosing a board from specific website , which is House of Staunton, so I would like you to show me which board would you choose from there.

I also talked about veneer boards not solid woods , did you even read my post?

Oops, I didn’t realize it was only from HoS and I missed the ebonized and veneered requirements. Sorry about that. I deleted my post which is a first. Good luck in your search.

You didn't have to delete your post.

Anyway everyone makes a mistake.

So do you want to help and answer this post or you are just bailing out ?

Nice one . Thx. Waiting for others see if anyone have similar choice.  So Rosewood so far preferred. Also do you know if Rosewood allowed by chess tournaments? I know there'ssome specific woods that are allowed.

Which pieces would you choose?

I got the board so I could use it with a HOS Players set in rosewood. @eyechess recommended it to me. Since then I have used it with many sets in ebonized boxwood. It even works well with my NOJ Tal set with black stained pieces although I would never use them at a tournament
