How about something homegrown? Whiteboard magnets themselves are cheap (check your local office supply store) -- you could easily glue on some images of the pieces and find some solution for the board itself (it could be as easy as drawing it on with a whiteboard marker.

I'd like to find inexpensive (<$20) flat magnetic chess pieces that could be used on an office whiteboard or refrigerator. The closest I've come is this ($669!):
