Who are the top 3 for chess book publishers?

RussBell

Top 3 in chess book sales are probably (not necessarily in order):

Everyman Chess

New In Chess

Batsford Chess

Next would probably be:

Dover Publications

Quality Chess

Gambit Publications

These are educated guesses, based on my 30 years of chess book collecting.  While I cannot guarantee the allocation of the specific publishers in my two categories, I am reasonably confident that the publishers listed are the top 6 in sales (i.e., over the past 10 years, and presently), which of course implies that the top 3 are included.

Three top names come to mind:

New In Chess

Quality Chess

Everyman Chess

For historical Chess books, it would be McFarland.

I don't know who the top three would be, but the top publishers today in terms of both quantity and quality of books would obviously be, in no particular order, Everyman Chess, Gambit Publications, New in Chess, Quality Chess, and Russian Chess House.

You forgot to mention Gambit Publications. Another major chess publisher.

How many books have Gambit publications published the last 2-3 years? Maybe they were big 10 years ago, i don't think they are today. Also Batsford, i think they are not so big anymore.

Today it's maybe Quality chess, New in chess, maybe also Russell enterprises and f.ex. McFarland for more exclusive books.

Yeah, well, been thinking about it. Gambit might have been a major publisher, but they´re not anymore. Also Batsford.

I could add one of the worsts most likely the worst: Cardozo publishing. 1. They publish junks and 2. they are crooks.

1. They publish all sorts of gambling and chess books that have been ranked among the worst some by Eric Schiller.

2. When I called to ask for error list for one of the Schiller's books(ensyclopedia of chess wisdom), they told me they will send a book if I send them my notes about the book's errors. They never did.

The first Cardoza book I ever perused lacked both an index and a table of contents. Over the years, if I saw a Cardoza book in a book store, I'd flip through it to see if it had those two features, Most of the time the answer was no. I didn't even have to look at the contents of the books.
