Oh yes, I agree. I regularly follow Agadmator's channel. Basic strategy but enough for my chess level and the guy is entertaining.
Who is your favorite chess youtuber and chess commentator?

IM Andras Toth's channel (ChessCoach Andras) is the most instructive I've found for club players. A breath of fresh air for people averse to the gross, influencer marketing/self-branding vibes of other commentators. His "Amateur's Mind" videos have done much to correct some bad habits to which I've personally been prone.
edit: I used to learn a lot from the St. Louis Chess Club channel but have found their recent string of instructors to be lacking in teaching experience, if not impossible to watch.

Chessbrah(Eric Hansen), John Bartholomew - number 1 pick.
Sometimes : Ben Finegold, Ginger Gm
Occasionally : Hikaru Nakamura (talks too much can't tolerate him enough)
Pepe Cuenca, Divis and David Anton in Spanish. Peter Svidler in English, all in chess24 YouTube channel broadcast

Simon Williams....aka GingerGM...(definitely not boring)...

This is like trying to answer which food is the favorite. Depends on my mood. I really like seeing the trash talking at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCq6gYeqi8RIvVeF-sJwdaBg (coffee chess). Especially when they get some kid or teenager on there & the kids are cracking up laughing at the trash talking. It's just hilarious seeing the adults defeated by them.
Then there's Agadamator for my serious contemplative games. He sets the games up with a bit of history he obviously learns from his time machine he refuses to admit he got from Princess Diana. Joking aside, the rich background he provides is just amazing and sets the stage for enjoying the beautifully curated games he chooses to showcase.
After that, there's Yasser. My first paid for chess instruction materials were a set of 1970s vids that he made. Honestly, they were NOT that good and like so many instruction materials, they started out with how to move the pieces which was irritating. But it DID provide some good insight into how to think about the game. I just really like Yasser's passion.
Finally, Garry Kasperov's MasterClass video was less instructional and more about how we should be passionate about our games. Garry's Masterclass showed me that I need to not be falling asleep in the wheelhouse in my games & highlighted the need to keep the brain sharp while in the middle of a game.
IM Silman could probably make a mint with a youtube channel. His books CHANGED my understanding of Chess. Why. The. _? did not one other writer since the 1700s decide to point out what he points out in his books? That said, I now know WHY I stink at chess. 8) I certainly did not go up in rating. In fact, I went down after reading his works. I did some reading and soul searching and the current theory is that I went down b/c I got too passive & afraid to believe there's an advantage. It started right after I played against someone who it looks like used an engine for part of their game. I'm not completely sure and I won't dwell on cheaters b/c I play too many legitimate games here & sometimes I play really well so maybe I just caught the suspected cheaters on a really good day for them.
Last streamer I like is https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1CiPq7zQQtYPPphsJHI9QA (Backyard Professor). He's got incredible passion and isn't afraid to try his hand at analysis.
I usually spend time on Youtube channels to try to follow lessons and to try to improve results. I prefer videos to books honestly. I saw a couple of channels (Hanging Pawns, etc.) which are not bad in my opinion. What is your opinion about those channels? And which one is the best?
I also found this video about history of chess who is incredibly good. You won't regret to watch it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ze3FudWs65A&t
Also, who is your favorite chess commentators? I was impressed by Judit Polgar recently and by the commentators of chess.com. I do not want to mention names but other commentators in recent online tournaments were pretty boring. What is your opinion?
Cheers,
Guys
