i am in the same boat as u. i love 2 play, but as far as theory and advanced tactics, i only know what i have learned from playing. maybe i've picked up a little from some of the videos on here. i haven't read any books on chess but would like to know what a good one would be as well.
Yasser Seirawin's Books
I've read them all and agree with Tactics, then Strategy. Tactics are the basic tools of chess. I think you'll be able to understand strategy better after you have some tactical motifs down. Openings you should just get a rudimentary knowledge in, and figure out what the main game plans are for both sides in a given opening before you play it. But most of the opening learning comes after you play; I suggest only then looking deeply into the line you played - it seems it's easier to learn after you have formed your ideas about a position, then compare your ideas to established theory. If you just memorize the opening you might not understand it, and you have to understand it to be flexible (you can't expect your opponent to play exact move order).

I recently bought three of his books online, Winning Chess Strategies, Winning Chess Tactics, and Winning Chess Openings. I am a mid level beginner seeking to get better as fast as i can. To stronger players who have read these books, which one i should start on?
