Zagreb chess pieces

Hello, fellows. I've been looking for chess pieces for a while and Zagreb ones are my favorite for sure. I can't really say why but they are. That being said, unfortunately they seem to be one of the most expensive set chess as well. I found them in this site http://chessgamesshop.com/index.php?c=17&p=111283 and they seem to be the cheapest on the market. This e-shop is from Slovenia, so I would not pay any custom duties.

So, I would like to know your thoughts (both about the site and about the chess set itself). I'm open to suggestions.

EDIT: I should have said that I'm not going to buy chess sets from extra-EU online stores because of custom fees.

This is 3.8" tournament size.

Hi and thanks for replying. Unfortunately I would pay custom taxes buying from chessbazar (as stated in their own website).

Where its stated? I haven't seen.

I might have misunderstood this sentence but here you are: "There are no extra taxes, hidden costs or additional shipping charges(Taxes only charged in Europe/Canada*)". https://www.chessbazaar.com/help-do-your-prices-include-taxes/

No. I have been active here for a long time. There are regular customers here. sound67 is one such customer who buys regularly from them. I assure you 100%. Even then if you pay customs chessbazaar will pay you $40. That won't happen. Because people here buy regularly from them.
You don't need to worry.

Thank you for your reassurance, I'm not questioning your statement but in my country you have to pay custom fees for anything above €22 that comes from countries outside EU :/ that's why I was looking for EU e-stores :/

I've had about 10 orders shipped by Chessbazaar from India to Germany by DHL. So far I haven't paid any customs tariffs.

I don't know how things work in Germany but here anything that comes from outside EU and whose declared price is above €22 is subject to custom fees.

You can try this. But they are little expensive. You asked for less price.

I don't know what Acacia wood is. And also I don't like the ebonised pieces much.

dante14233

Yeah, I prefer sheesam wood over ebonized one as well. Buy, yeah, they're quite expensive. So maybe there are not "cheap" zagreb wood set on the market. I should start taking into account other models perhaps...

Have you tried www.polishchess.com ?
Their Chess pieces are expensive. But Boards and especially storage boxes are very much less than the one in CB or HOS though not same quality.

The price of $116 is USD not Euros. I believe 106.00 in Euro and it has free delivery.

I have a wenge wood folding board from Poland, I think it's from this company. Disappointing quality. Chips on every corner (new!).

I read that Wenge is supposedly heavier and stronger than walnut, maple and rosewood. If a new board chips at the pointy edges that easily, I have to wonder/doubt the actual material used.

@dante14233
I have got the confirmation from them that there is no customs.

dante14233

Thanks, I'll get that set as soon as possible
