Free Non-Profit Chess Lessons for Girls Ages 6-12

Hi everyone!

My sister and I created a non-profit dedicated to create a fun and stimulating learning environment for young girls who typically wouldn’t have access to chess programs.

Female chess players have typically been underrepresented in the sport with only 15% of chess players are female. Our goal is to make sure that every girl who wants to learn chess can!

We're a donation-based program and are always looking for volunteer chess teachers, and new students.

Check out our website if you'd like to sign up: http://www.checklikeagirl.org

I’m an old guy who’s worked with young kids tutoring school & music stuff - friend’s children or friends of friends - along with helping a little bit with Bay Area Chess events & classes a couple of years back (I’ve been kind of a gypsy lately mostly not in the SF area).
I looked online & see there really isn’t any organization out there like yours, which comes as a surprise. I know some website stuff and can also write & edit. I’m working on my own little experimental chess book and so am on this site to offer help to beginners that seem like good candidates to explain the basics that IMO aren’t really explained much - that limbo between beginner and solid player.
I’d be honored to help in some way & would love for my granddaughters to have an organization like this (they’re interested in learning chess, even ask me to bring my set, but with the virus I can’t see them).
Let me know what you think & best wishes in any case - long overdue idea!

This is a wonderful initiative happy.png

Im definitely interested in taking classes. I’m just a bit confused - some parts of the website say it’s open to ages 6-14, while this forum says ages 6-12. Im 13 and would love to know if I’m eligible
