Chess Mentor SUCKS

EDIT 5 years later: I honestly don't know what I was thinking when I posted this.

I don't like Chess Mentor. It shouldn't be rated. There is not even a setting to turn it off - I am tired of having to play compeditively! I just mess up on one lesson and they take 55 points from me. It really sucks.

Is there any way i am overlooking to turn rated play off? I don't want others seeing my horrible rating.

Oto,

Relax. Who cares about "points." Your goal is to become better at chess, not the master of "Chess Mentor," right? So, don't get discouraged by the points thing because it's pointless.

You can always go to your Chess Mentor settings page at http://www.chess.com/chessmentor/settings.html and click the option for resetting your Chess Mentor rating and history and then "save" if you are getting frustrated by it.

oh, i see i can reset my rating, if my rating goes bad.

I'n case you are missing the point of chess mentor. The idea is to give you an understanding of positions on the board and aid you in your overall understanding of the game.

It gives thinking techniques to aid you until they become second nature to you. Some of these thinking techniques have basically been some of these authors life works and, they have basically become accomplished players with these techniques .

If you use these ideas given by these authors they work and when they become second nature to you the game gets easier and you will improve.I personally have seen an improvement of over 400pts USCF since working on this site at least an hour a day and continually applying these ideas.Granted its taken over about 3 months to do so its paid off and been well worth the money.

So just ignore the rating and move on with the meat of the lessons doing your best to solve them in your mind b4 you attempt moving pieces on the board.I guarentee if you follow the advice it will work.

P.S. if you  want to see some games I have recorded OTB mostly where the lessons have paid off then ill be glad to supply.Just leave a message asking for a few.

P.P.S.I dont do alot of live chess due to the annoyance of being logged off alot.Just like everything else in the world it may not be perfect but overall this has been the best and continues to improve.

Fascinating.

"I'm tired of playing competitively".     Then start playing co-op-peratively.   Help your opponent to beat you.             co-op-pe-ti-tion

Chess mentor is very good except I only get one lesson a day which I sometimes forget about

RonaldJosephCote

Well which one is it ??    You forget about the lesson, or you forget which day it is ??
