Finding the Best Move for Black

There's one specific move that Black does so that he may gain the advantage after (almost) losing a Rook in a fork with White's Knight.

After that specific move, you can easily find the move to put Black back in the lead!

Can anyone find it ?

ANYONE AT ALL?

Till_98

This is just lost for black...

Tell me what you'd do then, Till?

I bet you can't figure it out even though you are high rated.

I'm saying this because you've already given up.

Till_98

honestly, black can never win here, he can not even do something against all 3 white threats (Nf6, Rxd8, Rxc6). Could you please tell me your "solution"?

Till_98

Nd4 here looks very interesting but even there I dont see a win after Re1

Well, Black is down a pawn already and yes by doing Nd4, White will do Rxd8 and then what does Black do after the Rook captures the Queen ?

Till_98

Ne2 of course but why should white take d8 when this is simply losing? What would you do after Re1 instead?

phildamasta

This is the order of how the game would be starting with Black: Rxe4, Rxd8+, Rxd8, Nf6+, Kg7, Nxe4, Re8, f3, f5, Qc7+, Kh6, Qf4+, Kg7

That's what I'd do. I hope those moves are clear to you. These moves are after Re1. It was Black to move and then White etc.

phildamasta

But you're right, this still leaves me in a worse positon and I'm down some material too...

Till_98

lol, why the hell would you give up your queen and your rook for basically nothing? I mean the starting position is probably bad for black but it surely isnt that bad that you need to sacrifice your queen for nothing.

phildamasta

You're probably right, Till. I have a terrible position and I don't know what I'd do if White played Re2. There's no chance of gaining an advantage after this lol

Till_98

yes exactly. LOLLaughing
