The sequential mode hasn't been updated in a while, so new content isn't part of the program. Adaptive sounds great for an already advanced player trying to figure out weaknesses. I think most folks just click on "view courses", find something that looks interesting and give it a go. My personal recommendation would be to do all the basic and intermediate tactics courses. Learn all the motifs and checkmate patterns. Do the courses over and over if you need to. A little more will stick each time. Have fun! Here's a fun course:

Dear Chess Community,
I've recently joined Chess.com and have become a Diamond member. One of the main reasons for signing up was to use chess mentor which looks like a fantastic training tool. with so many options on how to use chess mentor, i'm at a loss on how to use this program.
I've noticed that there seems to be two distinct modes: Sequential and Adaptive, I'm not too sure which one to use if any! I'm obviously aware that i could just pick a course and work my way through it, but with so many to choose from, where do you start?
Thanks in advance for your advice.
Rich
