Some of the best players in the world have contributed to chess books, papers, game analysis of full games, various openings and other stages of the game.

Game analysis is usually reduced to a string of other moves showing how inefficient they are if played. I am 100% sure that the top players do not analyze 5 or 10 moves 5 moves ahead as thy do not have time when playing  game, so what do they see?

I have never seen a world champion explain how she/he plays a game of chess and review every move made and explain what the thinking was at the time when the move was made.

I have also never heard a world champion explain his training in preparation of a match except for some general comments such as I studied the games of so and so.

What I would love to hear is the how does the mental process works, what does a high caliber think and see at the board when playing a game.

In other words what is the secret weapon of the greatest of them all?

Fisher is past. Carlsen, Kasparov, Polgar, Anand, Caruana, Kramnik, Karpov,Spassky etc are still alive and perhaps not when still active players but when they retire they all could contribute with a book explaining in details all of the elements that contributed to their success with an emphasis on what they think is the way to become the best.

I am dreaming as no one will ever reveal their secret they all bring itwith them.
