The time has finally come when I am ready to announce my plan to run a structured chess teaching course. For a while now I have had far more students seeking personal coaching than I could possibly coach, so by moving to a structured curriculum I can teach more students more effectively.
I am going to offer coaching for 5 people in 1 group, with a maximum of 3 groups at any one time. The coaching is going to include the following:
- Eight weekly sessions of hour-long video lessons of made available only to the members of course.
- Eight Problem sets, each associated with a certain video.
- Weekly sessions of online coaching with the 5 students at the same time (group session), one hour each. This is the time I allocate for discussing the video lessons, answering questions, potentially analysing games etc.
The eight videos form a cohesive set of teaching that should improve the chess of players (from 1300-1800 ) The groups will be separated based upon rating level so group sessions will be most efficient. The videos will be roughly themed as follows: 2 lectures of openings, (theory, strategy etc.) 2 lectures about tactics (puzzles, puzzle solving, identifying tactical patterns etc.) lectures of middle game strategy (pawn structures, plan making, etc.) 2 Lectures about fundamental endgames (endgame technique, endgame theory, endgame patterns).
The price of the course is $225 AUD.
I am going to run 3 groups, so the first 15 people are going to have guaranteed spots. The 8 group sessions are going to take place on 8 consecutive weekends, more details about it later.
I am planning on creating a sample video, although by now I am sure you know very well what you can expect from me and my coaching.
