This post concerns "Spotting Tactics 2: Exposing the Castled King" I have listed the move's position below for reference: The move played in the lesson is 1. Qb2, however, computer analysis (stockfish) suggests that 1. Qc1 or 1. d6 is better. [ +3.79 vs. +5.13 or +5.13]
REGARDLESS, even if we played 1. Qb2. Black's response should have been 1... Nc4, as I calculated in my mind, deterring me from picking 1.Qb2 since 1... Nc4 would seem to stop any immediate tactics towards the king.
Perhaps the lesson should be edited or a note should be added because BOTH moves are not the best.
1. Qb2 (the move used in the lesson): +3.79 1. Qd1 or 1. d6 : +5.13
1... Qf6 (black's response used in the lesson): +13.17 1... Nc4 : +3.79
