For pretty much the entire time I’ve been playing chess I’ve been using this opening and I’ve grown to love it but I’m not sure if it’s actually good or not. I’ve gotten to the point where I’ve memorized some common lines that work well for me and even a trap.Just wondering if I’m pretty biased and it’s actually a trash opening and that I should stick with D4/E4

It is not a good opening because your opponent can easily set up a prison, take your rook, and win a whole chunk of material. At higher levels you never see this or the Grob opening because good chess players can easily punish these openings. I like the big 3 (e4, d4, English) much, much better. Try those three best openings for white!

I personally start of the 1.Nf3 to take away an early e5 because it makes life so much easier.

Nf3 or g3 are transpositions to c4, d4 and even e4 anyways lines, so I don’t feel like am missing out.

It is good, although against e5 the best thing to do is play c4 and transpose to an english

Yes. Against g3 black can set up a prison and take your rook. Forcefully. And wins a whole chunk of material 🤔

G3 isn’t bad. But I would say that e4 and d4 are so much better. Simply putting a pawn in the center. But g3 is by no means a bad option. I’d say stick with e4/d4 but g3 can be a side weapon you pull out once in a while. Nf3 and c4 are also good options as well. B3 is also good

Agreed. It’s not terrible to move it, but develop your other pawns first.👍
