A beautiful line in the Nimzo-Indian, Kmoch variation

Recently, playing some Nimzo-Indian, Kmoch variation daily games, I came across a beautiful line in a game through the opening explorer. Now that my games are differing significantly, I feel ok to post it...

game is shown on https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-openings/a-beautiful-line-in-the-nimzo-indian-kmoch-variation?cid=48355132&page=1#comment-48374974

Yeah, if you have to play Rhb1, something is not going well🤣

Don't know but got excited with this game, especially the opening! However, no matter how much I searched, I couldn't track why the variation 1. d4 Nf6 2. c4 e6 3. Nc3 Bb4 4. f3 is named as Kmoch. I looked at his games and couldn't track a game played with it. Only some other where in the Nimzo Indian a white's f3 is played but later, like Kmoch vs Capablanca, Budapest (1928), ½-½

Great game, no doubt. Cheers!

This is actually still theory (the idea of Ba6, sacrificing a8, is a common one in this line), but Rhb1 looks like an inaccuracy. Instead:

Indeed! Having the Rook in the centre looks rather better!!

Thanks for sharing this game. I play the Kmoch variation as White against the Nimzo-Indian, but I've never encountered Black playing 5...b5!? Cool game though.

@KeSetoKaiba yugioh fun?? Used to play the card game some centuries ago! Anyway!

Never played the variation till now and yes this ...b5 is a great continuation. Generally I looked for ...c5 for black instead of ...d5 that many times leads to a B retreat. And ...b5 was a great continuation!!

Yes, Yugioh (original) was a great show and a fun card game, but I haven't played in a long time because the game changed too much for me. I still have "older" cards though. I like many of the newer cards, but them changing several "older" rules is too different for me.

As far as the chess goes, yeah I encounter ...c5 and ...d5 a lot - probably 90% of the time I get this position.

Where is White's mistake, please?

thank you for sharing the games!

Just played this bullet game 1min with Kmoch variation. I liked it

kamalakanta

In the bullet game, does 13.b4 win for White?

introuble2

haven't analyzed it but with a quick look 13...Qc4 threatening again N. Don't know if theres something else with B pins

kamalakanta

Makes sense!

simaginfan

Then 14 Ne4, and I have no idea what is going on!🤣.

Line thought without analysis 14... Bxe4 15. fxe4 Rxe4 or 15. Bxc4 Bc2+ discovered threatening Q
