BTW, and OT I am a huge fan of Alekhine's even though OTB at my club I normally get plastered using it. Most there are 1800+ so I should expect as much but if anyone in my rating range wants to school with the Alekhine's shoot me a challange! see you on the black and white ;O)

2.Bc4, forgoing 3.Qf3/h5 in an attempt to garner a hasty mate, is a good move, though! I like it, at the very least, though I suspect that doesn't count for much.

If your child learns that its more improtant to win than to play sound logical moves then really you lose.
Sound logical moves are useless if you don't win. Results are all that matter in chess. It's not either/or; you need to learn to play sound logical moves that win.
