Any Catalan Players Read Bologan's Book?

I am learning this opening and have started to work through The Powerful Catalan by Bologan.

I'm wondering if any experienced Catalan players have read it.  I have only started playing 1.d4 a few months ago so everything is new to me with this setup.

I have the chessbase catalan dvd of Bologan. it is good but clearly aimed at 1900+ audiance who want to put active time in the opening. He explains the plans but does not explain his assesments and follow ups.

Often en move order ends wtih: "It is clear white is better here" but to me it is not clear at all so i really have to dive into the position to understand why white is better.

I did buy the book and worked through some of it.  I'm honestly on the fence about whether or not I want to play the Catalan, but am working through some of Kramnik's games every now and again in case I decide that I do...

Just remember that the Catalan is one of the hardest openings to get an advantage with playing white. The game is fairly equal right from the start and more who understands the position best. In other terms you really have to play it for a year or two to start winning real games.

The book is very good. Bologan only writes good books Smile. But a very good book to learn playing the catalan is "Winning with the Catalan" by Angus Dunnington. I also recomend a chapter from Kotronias book "Beating the Flank openings" . There he has a chapter : "The ideas in the Catalan".

It really depends...If you play it against players below 2000 Elo I guess there are many ropes given to the black players to hang themselves (to get a positional squeezing advantage). Many players below 2000 Elo will definitely have problems if you understand the Catalan rather well.
