Attacking idea against the Modern Defense

This example demonstrates the power of an early h4 h5 against the modern defense.

Rxh5? Was actually a mistake if played correctly. But good game.

I think black’s 9…f6 was a mistake. 9…f5 was better to block the white’s bishop attack. Then go for setup like Bf7, E6, Bg6, Nbd7. Then, white had to show whether he has enough compensation for his rook.

Seriously, do u know what u are talking about?

Rxh5 is typical (against dutch, Jobava attack, and other openings with g6).

Maybe black can defend but how? Be careful with using engines in these kinds of position.

It could tell its not good for white, then let it analyze and it would tell white is almost winning (I am not sure for here after Qxh5).

f6 was a blunder, Qd7 was the move but not easy for black as I said.

Well done!

5...0-0 from black after seing h4 was really naive.

Yes, and also, if black responds to h4 with ...h6, then we can go into the e2-e4 main lines, getting a more profitable version of the Averbakh after h4-h5 forcing ...g5 later.

Also I've seen the typical h4-h5! followed by the exchange sac idea mostly in the Leningrad Dutch, and also in the London System where black plays in the Gruenfeld fashion. This one against Pirc also looks interesting and might make a dangerous addition to white's arsenal.

And white doesn’t have any piece to attack with. It isn’t like I calculated all this, I of course used the engine to make sure they are the best moves.

Let's just say White has pretty decent compensation for the sacrificed material...I think we can all agree with that much.

9...Qd7 is a pretty hard move to find, at least to my human eyes.

Yes, I even was shocked that the engine recommended that move since I didn’t understand. But later, I understood why.
