Im mostly new to chess. I can hold my own in a game, but I'm flying blind and not really playing with a tactic of strategy, but just doing what I think is best. I'm taking the "practice, practice, practice" approach. Problem is, my opponent KEEPS opening with Kc3 and i have no idea how o respond. There are a lot of tips about white openings.i can't seem to find anything about black reactions to these openings. Any help for a beginning beginner?
Look at the Game Explorer and you will see how masters have responded to almost any opening you can think of.
This a a screenshot of the page for responses to 1 Nc3. You can see the various possibilities. It appears that 1..c5 is the most successful response. You can look at the moves you have played and see how they rate. As a basic member, you can only go out a couple of moves, but this should provide you with a place to start from.
