hello everyone here, how are you?

i could use a little help. i started reading "Aron Nimzowitsch - My System " today to help improve my openings. i reached a page which i couldnt understand the moves Aron was talking about.

I understood the beginning which is 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 d5 4. Bb5 (as shown in the diagram) and also understood this (black moves) 4...dxe4 5. Nxe5 Bd7 and now it's white to move but Aron says "and black threatens to win a piece by 6... Nxe5 6.Bxc6 Bxc6 7. 0-0 Bd6 8.Nxc6 bxc6 9. Nc3 f5 I couldnt understand any of that as it didnt make any sense to me according to the position on the board, could any one help me out?

(it's on page 6 of the book)

edit: i can upload a scan of the page if you think it'll help, though i'm not sure it's legal.

drumdaddy

this appears to be a typographical error in the book. good catch.

Oh i see, you have any idea what he meant to say? or should i just skip this page and move forward?

thanks for the help.

Uploading the page is fine, the author has been dead for 75 years (and besides this is fair use).

I cut away the irrelevant stuff in the page

Ah, there's a period in there :-)

After the "The continuation might be 5.Nxe5 Bd7", it says "and Black threatens to win a piece by 6...Nxe5." PERIOD

Then it continues with 6.Bxc6 Bxc6 etc

ShoeMann

ohhhhh!!!

haha thanks a bunch!

Note also the difference between the bold main lines and the regular (not bold) side variations.
