Best Black Openings

There is no such thing as a "Black Opening". All openings are determined by both players. For a Sicilian Defense to occurr, White must play e4. For a Sicilian Defense to occur, Black must play c5. If the Sicilian were a "Black Opening", then 1.g3 c5, 1.c4 c5, 1.d4 c5, 1.Nf3 c5, and 1.b3 c5 would all be the Sicilian Defense - they are not!

If the English Opening was a "White Opening", then 1.c4 c6 2.Nc3 d5 3.cxd5 cxd5 4.d4, 1.c4 e6 2.Nc3 d5 3.cxd5 exd5 4.d4, 1.c4 c6 2.Nf3 d5 and now 3.b3 or 3.g3, and 1.c4 e6 2.Nf3 d5 3.g3 or 3.b3 would all be the English Opening. NONE of them are. The first is the Exchange Slav, the second is the Exchange QGD, and the rest of them are the Reti.

Both sides determine the opening. There is no "White Opening" or "Black Opening".
