The Albin Countergambit is a nice answer, and often surprises White.
Best choice against the Queen's Gambit

Could anyone tell me the first few moves to the Dutch please? I am very interested and drawn into it now. Also could anyone give me the first few moves to the Slav Defence?

I made a video a few weeks ago about the Dutch defense opening http://youtu.be/tNewnBK2pjE sorry I ramble on a bit :P it's really a nice opening. You might also be interested in Magnus carlsen a game using it

ive had the QGA played quite a lot against me here (about 2/3 of the time i play the queens gambit) which i think is strange because when i still played in OTB tournaments frequently (2-3 years ago), i rarely saw the QGA.
is there a reason that the QGA is played so much more on this site than it is OTB?

In general, I never play the QGA, and most GMs or other titled players don't. Computer analysis often suggests that you do play QGA vatiations, but it's less easy for a human to play. I'm not sure what your OTB rating is, but when I first started playing in my 1st tournament (under 1200), the 2 times I played the QG it was accepted. However, once I was at the 1400+ (USCF mind you) rating, I have not seen the accepted vatiation since then (although it probably happens sometimes). I'm not totally sure why more people accept on chess.com, perhaps they haven't looked at as many titled player games? Hope that helps

Hello again. Could anyone help me out please. I am trying to figure out a way to find an opening that would help me refute the Queens Gambit as black. I am having increasing trouble with this opening. I know that many beginner players who come onto this website and don't accept the advice given to them by more experienced players but I am going to accept ANY advice that you can give me. I need all the help I can get.
First of all, you cannot refute the QG. (At least modern GMs cannot)
Second, if you posted a game in which you had trouble with that opening, we could probably help out better, because...
...there is a huge chance that you are using the opening as a scapegoat for "real chess" problems. No opening is good if you hang pieces, or if you have no clue about the plans associated with such and such type of positions.
Finally, there is no "best choice". There is only the choice that suits you better.

Correct. I believe that at our level of play, the ONLY real goal of the opening is to reach a middle-game position in which you feel comfortable.

You can even drop the "at our level". Stronger players just get more touchy about what is playable and what is not.
My definition of "comfortable" owes a bit to my laziness in opening prep, and amounts to "still alive with some counterplay that does not require fireworks". Some people will be more like "where I am attacking for the mate", and it requires a different repertoire.
Of course, sometimes you just don't get to choose - if the opponent makes a poor move but there is only one refutation and you don't like the path it takes, you still have to play it.

varelse post re dutch good choice white has problems with his white squared bishop his pet piece at times in d4
sith to d4 play e6 you can reply f5 but that tells white your plan with e6 you support f5 if white then plays c4 but remain flexible if white responds e4 then you just play it like a french by replying d5
