I wouldn't be so brash as to say my favorite opening/defense is the best for everyone, but it's the best for me. i'm uncomfortable with "book" openings so I like to play in the "Baroque" style. I usually open with 1. d3 or 1. Nc3 as white and 1. ...d6 or 1. ...Nc6 as black having had good success with either.
