Sigma engine at maximal strength and 10 plies (with the disabled library) prefers the following openings :

1st ply (strictly positive score):

  1. King's pawn 1.e4  (+0.20)
  2. Queen's pawn 1.d4 (+0.06)
  3. Reti 1.Nf3 an Dunst/Van Geet 1.Nc3 (+0.05)

I exclude 1.Nc3 cuz the only positive reply to 1.Nc3 d5 is 2.d4 (+0.1) which reduces it to the Queen's pawn game.

2nd ply (up to a half-pawn):

  1. Reti: Queen's pawn 1.Nf3 d5 (-0.10)
  2. Reti: Pirc invitation 1.Nf3 d6 and Reti symmetrical 1.Nf3 Nf6 (-0.13)
  3. Black Mustang 1. Nf3 Nc6 (-0.19)
  4. Queen's pawn 1.d4 d5 and Indian 1.d4 Nf6 (-0.24)
  5. French 1.e4 e6 and Reti: Slav invitation 1.Nf3 c6 (-0.26)
  6. Reti: Sicilian 1.Nf3 c5 (-0.29)
  7. Nimzo 1.Nc6 and Lundin/Mikenas 1.d4 Nc6 (-0.31)
  8. King's pawn 1.e4 e5 and Reti: Queenside fianchetto 1.Nf3 b6 (-0.32)
  9. Reti: QG invitation 1.d4 e6 (-0.33)
  10. Owen 1.e4 b6 (-0.35)
  11. Scandinavian 1.e4 d5 (-0.36)
  12. Pirc 1.e4 d6 (-0.39)
  13. Rat 1.d4 d6 (-0.41)
  14. Reti: St. George 1.Nf3 a6 (-0.42)
  15. Sicilian 1.e4 c5, Horwitz 1.d4 e6 and Reti: Corn stalk 1.Nf3 a5 (-0.43)

I'm now interested in the opening theory in all chess960 games. I found many general patterns etc. Here I wanted to test my unique available engine in the classical case. Actually, it gives quite reasonable results except for Queen's Gambit.Cool
