Best response to Queens Gambit as black?

I've been having alot of trouble against a good player who only uses this opening. Best responses? I usually go with kings indian defense. What's your favorite?

He can't play the Queen's Gambit against the King's Indian.

He can only play the Queen's Gambit if he plays 1 d4 and you play d5. Then he can offer you a gambit by playing 2 c4.  It is the Queen Gambit Accepted if you take the pawn and the Queen's Gambit Declined if you protect your d pawn with your e pawn.

If you are playing the King's Indian, in which you would play Nf6 as a response to his 1 d4, there's no way for him to offer that c4 pawn to you as a gambit.

Why not post one of the actual games you had trouble with?

dont be rude, accept it Cool

queens opening is statistically the best. kings indian or dutch defense can surprise your opponent or queens gambit declined can be even

Ragozin is very popular nowadays. Carlsen plays it as well as Vishy and Aronian. Can lead to sharp play consider it.

1 d4 d5 2 c4 and now 2...dxc4, 2...e6, and 2...c6 are all viable.

TwoMove

In the Queen's gambit declined itself it is as hard for white to prove an advantage as 1.e4 players find against the Petroff and Berlin. For example against Bg5 there are the Lasker, Tartakower, and Kramnik's improved orthodox defense with h6, and c5. Nigel Short has been winning games as black in the Tartakower for decades now.

So Bf4 has become more popular. There are tough defenses for black here too. For example Re8 of a Korchnoi v Karpov '78 game, thought to be dubious for a long time, has been revived by software, and played by Nakamura in several games. Caruana succesfully played a Rd8 idea in world championship match.

Software has found lots of problems proving advantage in exchange variations, and semi-tarrasch type positions, 4pxp Nxd5, not trivial to prove an advantage against either. It was always somewhat strange to me that club players frightened about the "minority attack", it's aim is to create a backward c-pawn, that isn't enough to win against. White needs great technique to get anywhere, which club players typically don't have.

Try the Semi-Slav, I especially like the Noteboom and Cambridge Springs variations. The latter is very dynamic and complicated.

Queens Gambit Accepted: Fine. Queens Gambit Declined: Fine. Slav Defense: Fine. Nimzo/Bogo/Queens Indian Systems: Fine, Grunfeld: Fine. Kings Indian: Fine. You get the point

Total trash and easily forgetable!!

Given all the sound responses - QGA, QGD, Slav, Semi-Slav, KID, NID, QID, Benoni, Grunfeld, Dutch, who the hell in their right mind would want to play trash like the Budapest (Booty?) when there are numerous other SOUND options?
