You should rather try to understand them then to try and and memorize them. One way to go for this is just to actually watch a lot of games that top players play. After a while you can get some idea on how these openings work. If you want to go to a specific opening, then look for players who are good in the opening, and how they play the positions.
For example, i have almost 0 OTB knowledge on the ruy or the kid, but im pretty sure i can play them on theory up to some move 10-15 just because i have seen lots of games in them.
Chess openings are vital because it's they are the first moves you play in a chess game. Since of this I'm want to learn and memorize all the possible chess openings created so far. Anybody got any tips on how to learn all of them? If you do, please leave a comment.
