Blackmar-Diemer Gambit

This is my first Blackmar-Diemer Gambit game ever.  I lost on time but was very pleased with the gambit.  I have included notes and if you click in the move list there are a few games in there and variations by Rybka through Fritz.

If you enjoyed this Gambit and like to play gambits or just discuss them in general then consider joining the Gambit Gang.  It is open to all members and lots of fun.  If you're interested in joining the Gambit Gang then please CLICK HERE TO JOIN.

Well played, isnt it annoying when you lose a won game on time?

Anyway, I was wondering about your group. I have never played a gambit in my life (with the exception of the Kings Gambit I played in a blitz game on live a couple days ago) but I was thinking about looking into them and learning a couple, because at my school everyone is very comfortable with their 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 etc. and as soon as you move away from that all of them bar the other top three just fall to pieces! Are the discussions on the gambits in your group helpful to someone who wants to learn the theory behind them?

Nytik,

The group discusses all types of Gambits and will answer any questions about any lines/variations.  Unfortunately our original group was deleted about 3 weeks ago and we lost a ton of content.  We're in the process of 'rebuilding' the content now and we need members to post questions about gambits and interesting lines.  If you went into the forum right now and asked,'What's a good gambit vs d4?'  I promise you will get a ton of great advise and some interesting lines.

"at my school everyone is very comfortable with their 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 etc."

This is one reason why I play gambits!  Takes the opponent out of book quickly.  I enjoy unorthodox openings in general and once heard that chess is all about who's more comfortable with the 'current' position of the board.  The best thing about gambits is you are comfortable with the position (w/practice) and usually get some sort of compensation for the piece you're down.  Whether it be time, initiative, attacking possibilities, or rapid development.  Gambits are fun!

All in all, come check out the group forums.  Gambits are great and they really teach you to think differently in chess.  Some say you have to already think different to even consider gambits.  So maybe you're a Gambiteer at heart and just don't know which gambits suit you.  I hope to see you soon and if you have any questions on gambits you can message me.  I'm not the expert on all gambits but can point you in the right direction.

Thanks for the inquiry.
