Bobby Fischer Trap

Sort:
shutupIknowIsuck

This trap was used by Bobby Fischer in almost all of his games and one of the traps that I've learned and can be a great counterplay against players who play the Sicilan Defense. I learned it from my friends who are great chess players.

I hope that this diagram helped you in your chess games. Also, if I got a criticism on this, I'd be happy to accept it. Thanks for reading my post.

how is 5. Nc3 the najdorf variation?

It IS the Najdorf Variation. Look it up on the openings. O-O?! is inaccurate because even though it puts the king into "safety", Ne8?? is a very serious strategical mistake because it puts the knight back to the rim, it is inactive, the rook won't be able to recapture after his queen is captured etc. Also, Na5? should be a blunder. My bad! But thanks for your criticism though.

This is not the Najdorf, this is the Accelerated Dragon.  The Najdorf is 1.e4, c5; 2.Nf3, d6; 3.d4, cxd4; 4.Nxd4, Nf6; 5.Nc3, a6.  This game is Fischer-Reshevsky, 1958 US Championship, but the analysis or "trap" was from a Soviet magazine that Fischer had read, but Reshevsky hadn't.

how ever made this post he dosent know nothing about this oppening he only saw a video on youtube from chesswebsite  Bd3 the reason is because there is no other good move left for white

A good friend of mine once used this trap to beat his first 2000+ FIDE rated opponent. He had just studied the Fischer-Reshevsky game the night before.

So what I'm saying is; that this is still a relevant trap even at relatively high level. Definitely good to know this one!

Thanks for posting!

Na5 is good move but e5 makes black position worse  i ran this through a engine in 2000 black will lose his qeen forced. This is not a trap.Black should play d6 and Na5."stop stupied comments about engines then and know if you run this with houdini 3 houdini will find a win for white faster"

8...Na5 is quite dubious, but certainly not a blunder. The real blunder is 9...Ne8?

White is just moderately better after 9.e5 Nxb3 10.ef6 Nxa1 11.fg7 Re8.

Material is equal (the g7 pawn is doomed), but white has some advantage with two pieces vs. rook and pawn.

White has a major developmental advantage in that line and can win easily with a simple kingside pawn storm.

Na5 is a horrible move. If d6 was played first, then it is fine, but playing it before d6 is premature and gives White an easy win.

There's nothing wrong with 7. ...0-0 (marking it with ?! is silly, it's the main line!).

13. O-O for White is a bad idea. Much better to simply push the kingside pawns and finish the game quickly before Black can mount a defence. Castling achieves nothing as Black has no active pieces to attack the White King with and just delays the attack. Also, the pawn storm is now not such a good idea because it leaves the king vulnerable.

No, Black's going to play d5 in a couple moves anyway. Why waste time with d6? The point of d6 earlier would've been to prevent a Maroczy Bind but since White elected not to go with that, we have no need for it here.

8...h5 9.f3 d5 is the way, if I'm not mistaken, and the paths diverge after that.

Yes, a5. Apologies.

Please comprehensively explain... what if 10... kxf7 11 ne6 12 kxe8? i'm sure there's a checkmate there but i'd like to know all the lines

Black's castle was the main contribiutor to both the loss of the queen and destined downfall of the king and surrounding material.
