Caro Kann named variations tree with evaluation and 1600-2000 performance stats for reference

Sort:
gik-tally

I stumbled on the great carokann wikipedia page that has all these named variations. the "easy to make a book out of this" info was so juicy, i decided to sort everything into an easy to navigate tree and add both stockfish evaluations, but more importantly, performance stats under 2000 to show just how good or bad all these variations PERFORM in the real world where parroting grandmaster talking points is actually wrong. look at those gambits! there's a couple really strong performing ones. i was surprised that the cave man is just = as it was beating almost every line by move 15 with a bunch of engines vs stockfish. computers and humans see different things. that's the other reason i like amateur theory... a lot of times, stockfish recommendations are losing over the board, but mostly because that's where i can get all the gambit and out of book theory i need to play "unsound" gambits that literally decimate (as in have +10% or more winning stats)

i hope this resource is handy in chosing repertoires. i still need something to play as i'm terrible against hypermoderns myself.

the numbers are percent wins with white first then black and + favors white and - black.

the variations are sorted by amateur popularity and some lines have multiple names eg. most places don't recognize the cave man as a variation.

this info is so much easier to skim in times roman. sans serif fonts are harder to read
