What is your favourite chess opening?

hmm... I dont know...

as white: italian game (specifically evan's gambit), scotch game, smith-morra gambit are the top three right now.

as black (i'm more uncertain): modern sicilian, king's indian defense, benoni.

White side of a fried liver attack always makes me feel good. If only I got to play everygame that way

by the way, my favourite is queens indian the most "peaceful" attack

1.e4! Due to my positional strength, I still play 1.d4 better than 1.e4. But wait till I fix my tactical weaknesses, I will beat more with 1.e4!

Option#1: I can choose 1.e4 and beat many of weak opponents and only lost to a few strong opponents. Gambit plays against the weaks, mainlines against the strong.

Option#2: I can choose 1.d4. Beat a few strong opponents with it, and find a strategic ways/lines to transpose to the endgame to beat many of weak opponents with my endgame skill. But I will lack the experience to attack, something that I will need in the future (to go above 2400)

Option#3: I can choose both 1.d4 and 1.e4. Against the weaks I will play gambit (Danish Gambit, King's Gambit, GP Attack or open Sicilian, Alekhine Gambit of the French Winawer, etc). Against the averages I will play 1.e4 mainline. Against the strongs I will play 1.d4 (KI/Catalan against 1...Nf6, QG against 1...d5).

I have now chosen Option#1, later on I will move to Option#3.

So you see, I don't have any favourite openings. They all the same for me 8-)

openings I like but arnt in the repertiore at the moment- storm bird, modern benoni, morra gambit

well, let's see.

I only play 1. e4 as white and reply only 1...d6 as black (no matter what piece or pawn should white makes his first move).
