What are some good openings? Im a begginer in chess, I've only scratched the surface of the game and I'm looking to get better.

I'd recommend learning endgame theory first. Opening theory makes a lot more sense when you have a clear understanding of the endgame. Your whole goal the opening and middle game is to arrive at a winning endgame. How can one accomplish this goal if he/she doesn't have a firm grasp on which endgames are winning/losing/drawn? The point is, that if you know your endgames, it will be much easier to learn openings because the moves will 'make sense'.

I would recomend for openings, e4 as white, and against black  1.d4 d5 and 1.e4 e5, in these openings, opening rules play a big part and your mistakes are easier to see. As for improvment, most strong players recommend to study tactics, tactics and tactics (not to the complete exception of everything else). It is important though to get your basic endgame mates down and other endgame principals (Played a 1700 CFC, was up two pawns but he traded down to a opposite colour bishop endgame and we drew). This is so when you win material through your "tactics" you can actually follow through (a pitfall I fell into).
