Chess Programs

Hello

I have a MacBook Pro and wondering if there are any chess programs that are programed for the OS operating system. I know Windows is versatile. Does Houdini, Deep Rybka run on Mac? If not, which ones do run effectively?

Thanks

Regarding chess engines: Unless you use Wine, VirtualBox or something similar, then the answer is no concerning Houdini and Rybka. You can use Komodo, Stockfish, HIARCS or Shredder.

As for GUIs: There's ChessX, HIARCS Chess Explorer, SCID vs PC (MAC) and I think Shredder comes with a GUI.

Chessbase stuff doesn't work as far as I'm aware, well unless you again use VirtualBox, Parallels or something similar.

Where can I get Komodo to buy and download since it is the strongest amongst the list or am I wrong? Which is the strongest and best?  Thanks for commenting

I assume you'd need a GUI too. Take a look at ChessX or SCID vs PC (MAC).
