Hi all! I am a fairly good player with a strong command of tactics and tactical play. I however am horrible at openings. Usually I play an okay/decent/weak opening and usually have to convert tactical advantages in the middle and endgames to swing my game around. I'm tired of yo yo games and need to start developing an opening book.
However I play people all the time lugging around opening books and saying how they know all about the Sicilian or the French, English, etc and yet I beat them in the end. However as I advance I know tactics aren't the be all end all...
So I need some help...I don't want to be one of those jack of all trades guys so how can I focus my search to find openings suited to my style?
I prefer openings of a more conservative nature *gambits are worthless to me usually* and am comfortable with white or black no real preference. Any help appreciated thank you all!!!!!
