i think that after 6.....fxe4 white loses that good grip from the center although he can recapture with the N.but its just my opinion and i'm not to familiar with the dutch....
Classical Dutch Defence

6... fxe4 7. Nxe4 is of course part of the idea of this opening. The knight puts pressure on the bishop, and the pawn structure is, probably, one that black is not used to play.
I believe this is a more open structure than otherwise a potentially closed system, and I do prefer the former. You say that white loses his good grip from the center, but I'm not sure about that as currently he still has 3 pieces in the center. He may also, later in the game, break the center with d5.
Thank you for your opinion however. I would be glad to hear more - especially from people who play this opening or know of good games with these moves.

i think white loses its grip because in the opening phase it has only one central pawn in contrast to black. also i think balck can play d6 and later go for ND7 AND CASTLE Kingside and if anytime NxB Q x N

This seems like a variant. The main line against the Dutch consists of an early Nf3, g3, Bg2.
To whom is this directed, me or melvin?
Also, when should white play Nf3? 4. Nf3 and 5. g3? what should white do with his dark square bishop, and what's white's plan here, breaking the center with e4/d5?
Also, what do you think about the variation I gave, and do you know any good games in either lines (mine or the mainstream one you suggested).

I know more about 'Dutch' Schultz than the Dutch defense, but I have a friend who's partial to it, so I get dragged into it occasionally. The 5.Bxf6 line seems too accomodating to black, so usually I prefer to maintain the tension with an alternative move, like 5.e3. In this game, the results are disappointing to say the least....
i think if 15.Bc2 Rxc2 2.q xc3 and white saves his queen so no need toresign... am i wrong?
Isn't 4...Bb4 a decent option? I think Bb4 is pretty common in the classical dutch when white plays an early Nc3.

Yes, if Black can transpose to a good variation of the Nimzo ("good" meaning that White had no opportunity for d4-d5), he can get an impressive King's side attack:

I remember that when i didn't know any theory about the Nimzo i always went for an early Ne4 followed by f5. Then i discovered that the Dutch would be better for that .
Hey everyone, I was wondering about your opinion regarding this particular variation.
Is it good or bad for white? what are the advantages, and disadvantages? What kind of game might evolve from this, open, closed, tactical, etc... and do you know any interesting games for this variation. Thanks.
