Continuation for White in the Fried Liver Attack?

Sort:
Kupov

So I heard the computer on this site was very easy to beat using the Fried Liver attack, I decided to try it out. I can beat the computer every time on easy and sometimes on medium, but it has always beaten me on hard. so I decided to load up a game vs the hard computer and see if I could beat him using the FLA.

So heres what I did and where I got stumped

Thanks in advance!

I've seen 9. Qe4 a lot. It keeps the pressure on the knight on d5 while defending the pawn from the knight. also it pins the e5 pawn to the king and builds more pressure after 10. d4

GataKamsky

9. Qe4 is the main line. This move eliminates the threat of the fork on c2.

I think 9.Qe4 c6 10.a3 Na6 11.d4 Nc7 is the continuation.

normally its d4 to open the position up. then after c6 white can 0-0 or Qe4.

I beat LCP on hard in the caro kann as white.

9.Bb3 c6 to prevent the fork of the rook. 10. a3 Na6 11. Nxd5 cxd5 12 d4 .....

At least this is what I have played every now and than

You absolutely don't want to just freely trade pieces on d5 in the fried liver as white.  You'll end up just a piece down if you go that route.

Thanks everybody.

9 a3 is a very good move, recommended by Estrin in his book "The Two Knights Defence".

Isn't Nce7, instead of Nb4, theory?

Fisher has won dozens of games with 6.d4!, the improved Fried Liver Attack.

Why not O-O? Black can't take on c2 because he loses knight...

Maybe follow up with a3 booting the knight after c6?

I dont know.
