Cozio Defense/Vienna Game

I am thinking of employing the Cozio defense against the Ruy Lopez and the Vienna game if black plays the open game. What do you think of this choice?

pdve

A bit unconventional it seems but I don't like any other positions. Too complicated to play Breyer, Chigorin, Berlin etc. I am not a GM.

There is nothing wrong with these systems.

Go with it, play what u like.

Thanks. I'm not sure what the typical plans are in these openings but they seem to be natural openings.

Here's a recent game of mine(with knowing ZERO theory I might say).

There are several ways to play the Vienna. Assuming Black plays Nf6, White can go for Bc4, which can lead to the Frankenstein-Dracula variation, f4, the Vienna Gambit, which also has several variations, or g3, akin to the Glek line of the 4 knights. For a low theory line, this last looks the best option.

if pdve likes Cozio defence with g6, it is clear that Vienna with g3 (and Nge2) is a good choice, with same development and similar pawn structures.

I love the Vienna, look up Gotham chess as he has a great video on it if you want to study it in depth, and of course play some games.
