Crab Opening

Yeah, I hung my knight and my rook early in the game. Honestly I should have lost. I just thought it was interesting. I also went into analysis and I think I could have won in a similar way if I hadn't made those mistakes. What I should have done instead of throwing away the knight is to play d4. Then his bishop wouldn't have ended up back in there killing my rook and I could have set up the same attack on the king.
g6 just about justifies h4. You have to look at what happens if your opponent plays in the center to see if this push is worth not playing there yourself. I will try to find that video about the drawback of not occupying the center... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-c-_QLCzc0
I am usually somewhat of an expert on all kinds of crap openings, but even I have to shake my head on that thing.
The fact that black gifted the game to you in no way justifies that rook-blundering opening.
There was a GM that championed these bizarre types of flank openings in the 70s and 80s. They are playable, I just feel that you're giving black too much freedom of choice. I'm of the old school that the 1st move is a very slight advantage which should be improved upon; yet I'm also of the notion that Black Is Okay Forever! (Andras Adorjan). Chess is full of principles and contradictions. Pick your poison and have at it, right?
This is a game I just played. Thought I'd experiment with the Crab opening and it worked out well, though I did derp out and let my rook die there. If I hadn't seen that attack on the king, I would have probably lost this game.
