Not true at all.

There are attacking lines with 1.d4 (Rubinstein QGD, Shabalov Gambit against the Semi-Slav, Saemish or 4 pawns against KID, Trompowsky Attack, etc.

Positional lines with 1.e4 - 6.Be2 Najdorf, 6.g3 Dragon, Exchange Caro, 7.Nf3 or 7.a4 Winawer, Berlin, Petroff,,, etc

I like e4 but it's too played out. People don't know d4 as well, and the games are generally more positional so less formulaic. And although I don't play the queens gambit, if I were playing for the classical theoretical advantage as white that's what I'd play.
