I should point out, one of my main interests is to avoid the Morphy Defense which can quickly get into the main line.
defending the ruy

The Till article describes the Classical as a delayed version of the Schliemann. Thanks for the comments. It still seems that after Bc5, a6 can follow at some point and i may end up where i don't feel comfortable.
slowly, my rating has increased on the site, and now, i'm starting to find some of my games delving further into the ruy than ever before. When people first run into the ruy from the black position, what is a good defensive idea for someone new to the system? I've read Till's article on the Cordel defense which he compares to the Schlieman Defense and he says these don't involve learning huge mainlines. That sounds appealing to me, and in many ruy posts, it sounds like people like the Schlieman Defense, but i've also heard the Schielman is a bit dubious too. Just wanted to get some thoughts. Thanks. And please tell me if i have the line right.
