dragon sicilian

The line your talking about is the Hyper Accelerated Dragon.
The Sicilian Dragon is 5…g6.
They are completely different lines.
I recommend the Sicilian Dragon to intermediate players.
I recommend the Hyper Accelerated Dragon to advanced players.

I don’t recommend either opening to beginners because the lines start off slightly passive.
A lot of beginners can’t handle people pushing pawns towards them.
They often get scared or feel overwhelmed.
You have to be able to be calm under pressure and be able to know when to wait and when to fight back which is a degree of skill many beginner don’t have.

Sicilian Dragon is very tactical which is great for a lot of intermediate chess players that can remain calm and deliver a deadly attack due to tactical puzzle training.

The sicilian is a good defense to play at all levels.
The only really threatening line to the dragon is the yugoslav attack.
In sicilian fiancetto setups if white isn't castling queenside / pawn storming you (i.e. the yugoslav), and white isn't playing c3/d4 and occupying the center with his pawns ... you're just going to have a fine, easy game - all your pieces are active, your king is safe, and play is natural / intuitive.
If your opponent knows the lines of the yugoslav the dragon can require alot of precision, but I don't think that's going to happen very often at your level. Therefor I think the dragon is a fine opening for you to play.
And it's nice to accumulate experience in a great opening like the sicilian, even if you're a beginner - 4 years go by and you find that you've got 1000 games experience in the line. Instead of relearning a new line you decide to just stick with what you're best at... it remains your main defense.
