Why I don't play e5 against e4 because i'm afraid of the danish gambit and the sctochs gambit. How do you handle these openings. Thanks

What happens if white pushes e4 e5? What would be black's response?

eaglex

ng4 i think

Syntax_error

Isn't it d5, that is the traditional response anyway to e5.

I usually play the Scotch. Most of my games look like:

or
tyese-son

i dont like any of it e4 e5 is too drawish or it doen't give black enough teeth, its hard to get the initiative fromwhite with 1...e5,stay tricky my friend.try getting to e5 with different move orders!

Theses lines are tricky to handle if you accept all the material. I like the relative quiet lines in "beating the open games" by GM Mikhail Marin. He gives 1. e4 e5 2. d4 exd4 3. c3 d5 to avoid the danish. This line likely transposes into the 4.c3-line in the scotch gambit. In the scotch gambit there is a transposition into italian stuff in the first line 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 4. Bc4 Bc5. If you play the two knight defence against 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 4. Bc4 you should play 4... Nf6 instead of 4... Bc5. The other scotch gambit line 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. d4 exd4 4. c3 is met by d5.
