no, he means that since there's nothing wrong with the opening, qwerty shouldn't waste his time.

The English Opening is far and away my favorite. Its basically all I play as white. I love the positions it creates. I know I am only scratching the surface of this opening, and look forward to learning all the transpositional posibilites.

I prefer the other side of the centre (1. f4) and have never played 1. c4 by choice. However, there is nothing wrong with it- I've just never looked at it.

1. c4 has many hidden benefits. It can be used for a very closed positional games but also there are some tactical lines. It can also be used to transpose into certain 1.d4 openings avoiding certain defences. Finally many people do not have a good line to play against 1.c4 so if White knows the themes and usual positions he can do quite well.

O...k... Now you're just scary.

I take it that Mm40 has spoken out against the English Opening? In which case, yeah. Take that. Wink

I play the English often(it is my favorite opening, and I am obsessed w/ it), and I find it to be slighty irritating when black plays b6. Then I play b3, but I hate being spread thin in an area.
