Englund Gambit

After a losing streak against 1. d4, I tried out the Englund Gambit in blitz play - and won against a good player (2014 on main site, though 1287 in blitz)

I know it's an unsound opening, but anyone know any of the traps/know any useful websites about the opening? I think it's one that is well worth having in my locker for blitz play if I can learn the main traps

Your response to White's poor 6. Bc3? was perfect, so you probably already know some theory.  6. Nc3 is best with the continuation of 6....Nb4 7. Nd4 c5 8.  Rb1  Qa3 9. Nb5 Qa5 10. e4 a6 11. Nd6+ Bxd6 12. exd6 giving Black uncoordinated pieces and big lag in development.  Consequently, White has all the fun!!!

I don't like the Englund gambit, but your response to his blunders were sheer genius. Well played, and best of luck for the future.

Why do you place a ? at 19. ... Ne4?

And black is winning 2rooks to one knight.

There were far better options for me to take I think. What happens if 20. Nxf5 for example?

Not a game loser, but there were definitely far better moves (he missed it as it turns out)

I spent ALOT of time in the Englund gambit and at the end of my quest I can only conclude that it is just far too unsound. Perhaps in a 1 minute blitz as a surprise weapon it is ok-- for anything elsevery very very bad. The more I studied the less I liked it, untill I gave it up and it went into my never-use opening closet for good. If it interests you I could see if my games archive contains the last 50 games I played with it- The power of preparation is a curious thing I won almost 70 percent of my games with the englund gambit....in corespondece chess!   [edit] : I looked over my record seems they are too old and chess.com has long removed them but if the matter still interests you I would hapily prepare an elaborate report of my extensive research-Just Pm me.
