Evans gambit?

Sort:
insane

Hello so I am a beginner that likes to play the Italian. I’ve seen some gothamchess videos showcasing the evans and I am wondering if this opening is good for beginners? Would a better response to the guicxo piano game be castling? regards

Sure, it's OK.

You'll rarely get it, though, because most players will answer 3. Bc4 with 3. ... Nf6, not 3. ... Bc5.

If you want to play gambit, you have to be able do develop attack against yout opponents king. To learn it, you should study games of Paul Morphy and Adolf Anderssen.

Evans is fine for beginners. And beyond. Probably the most fun opening of all.

I still play it, and it's fine. On a beginner level where pawns matter less you probably get many nice attacks.
