Flash Cards for Chess Openings

Greetings!

I am putting together some online flashcards for my son and I to review openings. I am using a site called Study Blue that allows you to create flashcards and review online and on your smart phone.

Here is a sample of a deck I am putting together on King's Pawn openings (symmetrical). Basically, you get the name of the opening and ECO code. You can think about what the moves are, and then check if you are right.

Please feel free to review and give feedback. Also, if you are interested in seeing other decks as I produce them, please leave me a comment here.

You will need to create an account to see all of the cards, but it is free.

Thanks for sharing.  Hope this doesn't sound greedy, but would it be possible to at some point post flash cards for Queen's Pawn openings, Flank openings, Hypermodern openings, and Transpositional device openings as well?

Not looking for in depth theory, since it's just flash cards.  I like it for what it is.

Glad you like it :) My goal is to put together for all of the major openings and then to focus on more in-depth lines that I am interested in studying. Can't commit to a specific date, but I hope to get the major openings (including Queen pawn)  in the next few days.

I will have to take a look at this, it seems like a great idea.

Saw this thread a while ago and thought it seemed like quite a good idea. I had a hunt about online to see if anything already existed and came across these....

They are a deck of playing cards with a different opening on each card. It gives the move order, picture and code for the variation (C60 for example). So far I have seen 4 different decks. They are very cheap and thought it might save you some time creating your own.

At only £4.99 I just ordered a pack as a bit of a novelty to see if they are any good.

Thanks for sharing that. I will check it out.

The reason those cards work is probably because they directly check and train the concept retrieving mechanism. For that, you don't need any cards. You can also just read the line or view it in PGN and then reproduce it from the top of your head.

When succesful, the line can become so entrenched in the memory you remember it for years.

You actually don't need to study a line very long to remember it.

There is a flashcard platform especially for chess openings with an interactive chess board. You can check it here: https://flashchess.github.io/flashcard

That flash chess app is neat.  Too bad it is not preloaded with more openings.
