What about gambits
Good Openings for White?

There's no perfect opening, but I would advise you to learn something like King's Fianchetto or Vienna Faulkbeer Gambit for king side and London System or Old Variation Queen's Gambit for queen side.
They are not incredibly difficult to learn.

who told you the ruy lopez was super complicated? gothamchess i bet.
ignore gotham for he knows little to nothing about the ruy lopez, i recommend you learn this easy to know variation
its very simple
- you play h3 to avoid Bg4
- you will play Re1 to protect e4
- you will play Nd2-Nf1 then choose between Ne3 or Ng3 and try to get at f5
- and you will play for d4
- Bg5 is in the playing cards if black ever moves his dark squared bishop

sharp games then ig idk im pretty new

if you like sharp games i recommend playing the c3-d4 italian as white
or learning the scotch gambit
but learning them is a must, dont just play them because you think youre ready, learn them

the purpose of the gambits are to get a lot of piece development, many of them still come out of e4-e5 @CARJ_23

I'm gonna say play what you like, but this is such a huge misconception by beginner players. They think Ruy Lopez is just "positional and boring".
So wrong.

Learning openings isn't as efficient and rating-boasting as you think. Instead of learning openings, focus on following opening principals. It is way more efficient. In case you feel you lose a lot of games in the opening, then it isn't the opening that you should learn, it is how to avoid blunders. Note that when I say "learning openings", I mean studying it throughly.
I want to learn a good opening for white that's not too complicated like the Ruy Lopez and doesn't have many good responses. Does anyone have any suggestions?
