if you want to avoid main open siclians maybe you can try 2. f4 with a grand prix setup
help with Sicilian lines

Theoretically I think if you want to play the gp it's best to play Nc3 before f4.
Actually seeing the title I was just going to cheekily drop in and suggest 2.c3 as all the help you need with sicilian lines, but I see you've already tried that.
Afraid I don't know much about the Rossolimo and Mosco except they are very respectable.
Great. This is helpful. A friend of mine has also mentioned the Grand Prix. I need to explore that and see how that suits me. Why GP actually?
Yes, nothing wrong with c3 variation. One of my friends, who is a fan of Open Sicilian actually complained that a lot of people avoided it with c3. I tried c3 and -as I said- it usually leads to the iso pawn, which I just don't like. Perhaps I should learn these kind of positions one day, but for now I just want something that will not put me in a worse game right from the start.
Rossolimo and Moscow just seem veeery drawish... I read that Kasparov plays it in the simuls when he is not sure about the other guy. Some of the lines are just so boring, but then again... you can't have it all. :)
The other thing is that there seem not to be any "official" Rossolimo/Moscow line for e6 reply. I've explored c4 as a reply a bit and it's indeed a bit like Rossolimo/Moscow, just with the light-squared Bishop on the board. Is there any name for this line?
I started playing the Rossolimo and Moscow (Canal) against the Sicilian. Basically something to avoid the main lines of the Open Sicilian. I tried c3 (Alapin), but the usual IQP positions are not my style.
Few questions here:
1. Mainly... what to play after 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 e6 ?? How about the immediate 3.c4?
2. Is it possible to avoid IQP in Rossolimo?
Any other comments or advise will be helpful, as I generally explore options and try to find something that would suit me.
